# “THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE”

Friday night and I needed a drink. After a long and arduous work week, I just wanted to forget my problems and listen to some music.

When I punched out, I made my way home to shower and shave, then I walked down the block to my favorite watering hole.

I walked in to “Tex’s Bar and Grill” and I didn’t even have time to put my ass in the stool before Milly, the barmaid had my draft beer and Crown Royal on the rocks in front of me.

I figured I would sit and drown my sorrows with a private celebration before the holiday. Easter Sunday was coming up and I would be spending it alone as usual, ever since my divorce.

The bar wasn’t busy so I was happy to keep Milly company and catch a nice buzz to help me sleep. I knew I deserved a few drinks after the busy workweek.

Just as I finished my first draft, she came walking in. Her dress blues caught my attention first. And then her sparkling green eyes.

And with an impeccable posture that beautiful young lady marched right up to the bar very proudly, I just couldn’t help to take notice.

She stood and ordered herself a drink from Milly. That’s when I waved at Milly and pointed at my cash on the bar, letting her know that I was buying the lady a drink.

She sat down on her stool and removed her head cover. That’s when I saw those magnificent Auburn curls cascading down her back.
