Pool Tourny turns into more…

This experience happened about 10 years ago. We met playing a pool tournament on a Friday evening and hit it off talking Harley’s and college football. He said he was going to be smoking some ribs the next day and asked if I’d like to come over and hangout. Joe and I are both in our mid 40’s. We’re both biker type’s, if you were looking at us. I had a full beard about 3 inches trimmed and Joe had a longish goatee. I’m around 5’10”, fairly fit and Joe was about the same but maybe an inch shorter.

I arrived at Joe’s house at 2PM.

He answered the door wearing loose knee-length shorts and a Harley t-shirt. I was wearing similar style pocket shorts, flip flops and a t-shirt that said “Smoke ’em if ya got ’em”, from a local bar.

He said to come on in, he was just getting ready to check the ribs after they had been in the smoker for an hour. I had brought the side dish fixin’s for fried potatoes and onions and my specialty baked beans. I would get them ready but not cook them until the ribs had about an hour and a half left, so that it would all be ready at the same time.

We hung out under his patio cover, talking more about Harleys and other “guy stuff” and sipped on some beers while he smoked the pork ribs. He told me when they had about an hour and a half left and we moved into the kitchen and I made the side stuffs.

His ribs were top-notch, fall off the bones and he loved the sides I’d made, he said the beans were “good enough to be a dessert!” We hit it off like we’d known each other for years, rather than just meeting the night before.
