My Tutor
Abigail couldn’t believe her mom was making her go to some prissy tutor all summer, while her friends went out and partied. She sat sulking in the passenger seat of the car as her mom drove, chatting to her about how good this tutor was, and how this will guarantee that she would get into college after this course as if she was listening to her. They finally pulled into the estate. A countryside farmhouse in the middle of nowhere that used to be some rich plantation. The large house stood imposing in front of her as she stepped out of the car and took her suitcase from the back. The tutor stood on the porch, waiting for them, and gave a smile that didn’t reach his eyes as they walked up. He shook hands with her mom, Caroline, then reached out to shake Abigail’s. She just stared at it and scoffed, and Caroline gave her a glare and apologised as the man invited them inside for tea.
He introduced himself as Master Gray. Though Abigail thought the Master title to be a little odd, her mother didn’t seem to notice. Gray led them inside, letting Abigail drop her bag at the bottom of the stairs before leading them to the kitchen, where a pot of tea was waiting along with a stack of papers.
“If you don’t mind, there are some formalities I need to go over with you regarding your daughter’s stay here,” he said once they had taken their seats.
Caroline nodded. “Of course.”
“So this form just states that Abigail will be staying here under my care for the two and a half months, and officially releases her to me.”
Abigail leaned over the table.
