I woke up early Saturday morning and stretched. My wife was still sleeping in her room.

We haven’t slept in the same room or had sex for years at this point but still liked each other enough to live together for the financial benefits it brought.

I decided to go for a walk around the lake before breakfast and dressed in a light Tshirt and loose shorts sans underwear.

I pulled on my sneakers as I headed out the door.

We live in a lake community , our house isn’t on the lake but across the road from it. Still a nice spot. There is a walking trail around most of the part of the lake that has no houses or cottages built yet. Very seldom do I encounter anyone on my walks especially after september when the kids go back to school and the “part timers” as we call the people who don’t live here fulltime are busy with their lives in the city.

This morning I walked out of my door enjoying the sun in my face and the mid September heat wave. I carried my coffee carafe cup complete with alcoholic rum cream with me for my anticipated stop at the trail halfway point where I always sat on my favourite rock overlooking a quiet bay and enjoyed my coffee.

As I approached my favourite rock I saw that someone else was sitting there sipping on his own coffee cup. As I approached he waved and said good morning. I waved back and greeted him walking up to sit on a smaller rock in front of him. He introduced himself as Frank and I introduced myself telling him that I thought I was the only one who had found this peaceful spot. He laughed and told me that he had found this place around 10yrs ago and enjoyed it everytime he had a chance which wasn’t too often since he owned a cottage on the lake but worked as a cop in the city. His wife wasn’t big on cottage life. She had stayed home this trip and he had come out by himself looking for some peace and quiet.

I said that maybe I should continue my walk and leave him to it but he said that he would like it if I stayed and had my coffee with him.
