I work at a hotel/resort as a manager. Since I’m a manager I live on property. The office is open 24 hours a day, so sometimes I’m called to help guests in the middle of the night. It works out best that I stay on property. There’s an employee that’s been working at the hotel for almost a year now as a front desk clerk, named Colton. When I first met Colton he seemed a little bit different than the rest of the guys that worked the front desk. Not in a bad way, he was just quiet and not as outgoing as the rest of the employees.

After a little bit of time, I added him as a friend on social media and found that we had similar interest. We started talking about computers, the internet, building websites…the kind of geeky thing that I’m into. We instantly hit it off and became good friends. He works full time and gets an hour lunch break, so he would sometimes go back to my condo and take a nap. We didn’t always go to lunch at the same time so I gave him the door code so he could help himself in.

Summer time is approaching and he just turned 21 so he asked me if he could trade a couple of front desk shifts to drive the shuttle carts. The only time slots I had available were Thursday and Friday 5pm-2am. He was going to decline those shifts since he was still living at home while going to college and didn’t want to disturb his parents getting in that late.
