It had been a week since Jennifer and I had our little fling. I was driving down the road, windows down letting the wind sling my hair around and thinking. I was still confused about why I had reacted the way I had to Jennifer. She made me feel things I had never felt before. It was like an ember in my belly eating its way down to my toes. I had to try again to see if it had been real or just a fluke. I needed her to care, not just casually either.

I hadn’t talked to Jennifer in a week. She had called me several times and sent a few messages to see if I was okay but I was too confused and worried to answer. I knew she was off work on the weekends so I drove straight to her home. Jennifer’s car was in the drive as I pulled up. I got out and went to knock on the door.

“Hi Joyce” Jennifer’s voice was quite and a little hesitant as she opened the door. “Hey” was all I said in return. She moved aside to let me in and I walked into the living room. Jennifer closed the door and followed me. I stopped in the middle of the floor and turned to Jennifer. “Do you really think of me that way?” I asked, my voice coming out a little hurt. “Have you always thought of me as a whore?” My lips trembled on the last word.

Jennifer walked up to me until we were nose to nose. She reached down and cupped me firmly. “Aren’t you? Because I think that’s exactly what you are.” She grabbed my neck and kissed me, pressing so hard that I had to open my mouth or risk cutting my lips on my teeth.
