Jessamine_(0)

The sky was glimmering with stars dancing and the moon shone down upon the quiet and deserted streets of Esmeralda. Esmeralda is a small town, rural- even country. People knew their neighbors and traditional values were the only accepted ones. Jessamine knew that the moment her family had settled into the rural county.

A mix between Arabic and American, she possessed smooth dark caramel skin with incredibly vibrant green eyes, tall, slender. Her family had for right into town, a pair of strict religious parents had made her life a living hell, she knew that.

She missed her friends, especially Saharah. She knew her well, she was the first girl she had ever kissed and had ever… touched her. Jessamine was heart broken when she heard that they would be moving, adjusting into a conservative county away from the one she loved had been difficult but her schoolmates often called a terrorist because of her race. Until she met Holly- tall, brown haired but with a streak of purple, hazel eyes, tall, skinny, and rebellious. It was almost sacrilegious to not attend church or remain an unbeliever in the small town and yet, there she was. She didn’t judge Jessamine by her race but rather by character. Their friendship blossomed quickly and it wasn’t before long that they were best friends.

They often slept over at each other’s houses, wandered the deserted streets, helped each other cheat on tests, and sneaking out of their houses became a regular routine- until one night. It was like any other, the moon stood silvery and bright while the accompanying stars twinkled and glittered alongside. Sliding down from her roof, Jessamine climbed her a pipe attached to her house and quickly dashed to Lake Worth.

She had never gone so far before, she could hear her heartbeat, she couldn’t wait to see her best friend. Arriving on scene, Jessamine stood amazed at the scenery, the lake acted as a mirror of the night sky and reflected the brilliance of the infinite stars.
