I sat on my bed, holding my phone, when I threw it across the room.

THUNK

When it hit the wall a shard of glass bounced back and sliced my foot

“SHIT, AHH GOD THAT HURTS!”

“TIA IM GOING TO THE STORE TO BUY SOME….TOYS.”

I shivered. I hated when my dad bought toys. Usually they were meant for sexual pain. But if my father was gone that meant I could get rid of Peter. And when my father left he usually went to the bar and got drunk. That meant I had about two hours to get rid of Peter.

I wiped away my tears of pain and went downstairs to grab a wet napkin or some ointment. Before I could look I heard the doorbell ring. And it rang again. And again. And again.

“Jesus Christ Peter I’m coming!” I sighed and ran to the door.

As soon as I opened it Peter burst through, then turned around and hugged me. His crushing embrace was overwhelming, and I buried my face in his jacket. He smelled like pine and cinnamon. Then the wonderful hug ended as he pulled away and grasped my shoulders.

“Tia. No fucking around. Tell me the truth.”

I shook my head. “I- I can’t.” I said, my voice cracking.

Peter sighed. “Yes, you can.” Then he leaned forward and kissed me. On the lips. I swear I saw sparks. I had never been kissed. Even my dad had never kissed me. His lips tasted sweet, and salty at the same time.
