The cell phone rang and as I picked up and heard her voice, I knew it was not going to be a pleasant conversation. “You need to come home right now!”, she said. I could tell she had been crying, she had found out I had been unfaithful. The affair had been over years ago and against all odds, I was hoping I could keep the secret and never reveal it.

It was a month of uncertainty, trying to explain and asking for forgiveness, she asked if I wanted a divorce. Of course not, that was the last thing I wanted. I was still in love with my wife and had to figure a way of showing her. She finally started to accept my transgressions and decided to work on restoring the marriage.

We took a long weekend and drove down to the coast just to get away for a couple of days. That weekend we made love like never before, especially when she would mention the affair. On our long walks on the beach, I finally got up the nerve to suggest that we entertain the idea of opening our bedroom up to another man and having him join us.

I explained to her that I thought it was what we needed to spice up our marriage. Secretly I had longed for this the majority of our marriage due to a couple of incidents that got me wondering. She quickly shot down the idea and told me she was not “into that”. For years, while making love to my wife I would fantasize her making love to another man while I watched.

One day while on our evening walk, she confessed to me that her old boyfriend had called her a few weeks back to catch up on old times. They had lost touch when he moved away and married. She had met him while still in high school. By this time she was working over night at one of the resorts in town and he was living in Washington. She said the calls were more and more frequent to the point where they started having phone sex. She asked if I was mad and I told her that I had no room to judge or be upset and if she enjoyed what she was doing then she should continue.
