The cold steel of the handcuffs bites into my wrists, but I can’t help smirking. I’m still in my stripper heels, glitter clinging to my thighs, eyeliner smudged just right. I wiggle a little in the chair, giving the two-way mirror something to look at.

Then she walks in.

Six-foot-something of polished muscle, curves, and authority in heels. Jet-black hair in a tight bun. Glossed lips. Broad shoulders. And a not-so-subtle bulge pressing against those navy blue uniform pants.

Officer Maxine Steele.
