It was spring turning summer, the air was breathing warm with small brushes of cool intimately licking her skin, slipping up her thighs underneath her sundress as she lay in the tall grass laced with daisies. Propped up on her elbows, she smiled, giddy, glazed over eyes gleaming in the vast country starlight as she drew shortly from the joint in her hand. Near opaque white smoke whirled up and away, softly twisting in the wind as she swigged from the champagne bottle in her manicured fingertips, her long hair flicking wildly around her face. She loved this moment most, and all the others that came when she found herself nocturnal with him.

He was younger and she liked that. He was passionate and she adored it. He was in love with her and she pushed against it, for he hadn’t had his heartbroken, she had. But still she enjoyed the way his puppy dog attitude got her feeling superior. She’d tell him to jump and he would say “Wanna get high?” It was fun to see how far he’d go to win her over, she’d just dared him to juggle fallen pinecones and his hopeless determination to prove himself alone was endearing.

So different he was to the others, the melancholy ‘not too much older’ men she saw from time to time were so emotionally distant. It’s like flash forward 7 years and mid-twenty him might sadly be one of them. You got it, he was the sweet ripe age of 18.

It was nice to have a friend to fool around with, who wouldn’t close himself off. To be honest, the emotionally unavailable are not “guarded & mysterious”, she just thought they were weak. Too weak to fool around and have a laugh, to hang around and joke around. The only flaw about Sam was he was avidly jealous.
