Ch. 18 – Second Second Chance

Chapter 18:

Second Second Chance

Loud talking woke me up. After being alone on the water or on a mooring ball I wasn’t used to hearing voices first thing in the morning. I poked my head up to investigate and saw people on the boats all around mine, on the dock clustered in groups or scurrying around looking busy. Quite a change from what I normally saw. Living in such a large marina was going to take some adjustment. I put the coffee on and pulled up the marina’s website for a more detailed analysis. Wanted to see what they had to offer. I studied the layout and found the laundry, the showers, and the Captains Lounge. The important things. I noted that there was also a small bar & grill on site. Decided to shower and do some laundry. Grabbed a big travel mug of coffee, my laundry, and my shower bag. Headed to the buildings. Acknowledged dozens of boaters along the way. “Morning, Captain” was repeated over and over.

When I got to the laundry room, it was busy, but I found an empty washer. Noted that it was the ladies who did the laundry, so the room was filled with lots of estrogen. Started my wash, then hit the shower. Felt good to have a long hot shower. Feeling refreshed I went back to finish my laundry. Five or six women there, a few were lookers. Sat quietly as my clothes dried and listened to the gossip. No mention of Second Chance or Jenny. Did hear about a drunk screaming match on dock L, police called, yada, yada. The couple apparently drink heavily and end up in shouting arguments monthly. Glad I’m on dock O.

Finished my laundry and went to explore the Captains Lounge.
