Sitting at the airport with my best friend Madison waiting on her older brother was so nerve-wracking. Lieutenant Jared Kilgore has been in Afghanistan for the past year and a half. I have been friends with Madison for 3 years so I have never met him. I just newly moved to California from Maine so I could go to college out here. I am living with Madison and her family during the summer so now I get to experience this wonderful family moment. As the soldiers walk out of the gate I look over at Madison and I can see the anticipation on her face. She began to get jumping while searching for her brother in the crowd of proud men and women.

Then all of a sudden she shot out behind the rope and ran towards her brother, crying at the same time. After standing there hugging and kissing their forever gone family member, they all walked up to me. The Kilgore family started introducing me to him, Madison said “Jared I would like for you to meet my best friend Keisha”. I reach my hand out to shake his hand but instead he gives me a hug. All I could smell was Irish Spring soap on the back of his neck. After the 10 second hug we all left the airport and returned to Madison’s house. They had a delicious dinner planned for the afternoon and every food was Jared’s favorite.

After everybody practically gained a couple of pounds we sat in the living room and watched Kevin Hart: Laugh at My Pain. Jared loves Kevin Hart and while he was gone he could not see the new movie he had out. When the movie was over all the extended family left and went to their houses.
