Sweat was cooling on my body. Slowly my breathing became even again.
“Enough for today?” Keith asked and I shook my head. “I would love to run for a bit after I’ve cooled down a bit more. If that’s okay with you.”
He chuckled. “As long as I can sit here and work instead of joining in fine by me.”
“A bit of working out wouldn’t kill you, you know?” I teased him and got up to wipe the rowing machine down.
Just three days of this had changed my mood again. Working out while Keith did whatever he had to do on his laptop, being led on a leash around the house – either for the shower after workout or while he was doing other errands – napping on a big dog bed next to his desk while he was working there.
I was wearing the collar and cuffs all the time now. In this short time they had become a part of me, something that meant not being alone with the thoughts in my head that I kept them on for comfort even if I was alone in my bungalow.
Humming to myself I cleaned the machine, put the cleaning stuff away. Wiping my hands and face with the towel I walked towards the treadmill. Walk, jog, run… A perfect ending for today’s session. Shower after and maybe a nap.
Out of the corner of my eyes I saw Keith looking up from his work and followed his gaze. My owner stood in the door. He was naked only a towel draped over his shoulders.
Feeling slightly guilty I stopped on my way and looked down.
“Explain.” His voice was cold, commanding. But he looked at Keith, ignored me.
Keith closed his laptop and got up. “It is my responsibility to keep her healthy and fit. She needed some exercise.” was his simple answer. “I never let her out of my sight and when she is not in here she is on a leash.”
Now my owner looked at me. “Are you finished?” His tone was softer now and I dared to shake my head. “Nearly though.”
With his typical effortlessly graceful movements he walked over to the exercise bike. “You can leave her here with me and I’ll take her back later.”
Keith nodded and left. My leash lay forgotten on the floor. I looked after him, then at my owner. He was just starting his warming up. “You can finish and wait for me here.”
I nodded and got on the treadmill, started my indoor run.
